Saint Joseph's Athletics Announces Addition of Women's Golf Program
Saint Joseph's University Vice President and Director of Athletics Jill Bodensteiner has announced the addition of women's golf as a varsity sport beginning in the fall of 2024.
"We are extremely excited to announce the addition of one of the most popular sports for high school girls and college women with the addition of women's golf," Bodensteiner said. "During my time on Hawk Hill, I have had more inquiries about starting a women's golf program than any other sport. I am delighted to offer additional participation opportunities for female student-athletes to receive a Jesuit education at this great institution. Our University leadership - particularly President McConnell - has been critical in making this vision a reality."
Saint Joseph's will seek a conference affiliation for women's golf this coming year, with the aim to compete in a conference that sponsors women's golf as a championship team sport. Additionally, a search will begin shortly for our inaugural head coach, who will recruit student-athletes for the inaugural 2024-25 season.
With the addition of women's golf, Saint Joseph's Athletics expands its offering of Division I intercollegiate athletic programs to 21. Women's golf is the first addition for sports on Hawk Hill since the inclusion of women's soccer during the 1996-97 academic year.
